Hurak Ihor

Ihor Fedorovych Hurak was born on June 15, 1978, in the village of Chortovets, Horodenka city council, Kolomyia district, Ivano-Frankivsk region. From 1985 to 1995 he studied at the Voroniv and Nezvysko schools. In 1995–2000 he was a student of the Faculty of History at Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian University.

In 2001–2004 he was a postgraduate student at Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University (PNU). In 2005 he defended his candidate dissertation “Ukrainian Students in the Socio-Political Life of Eastern Galicia (1860s – early 20th century)” under the supervision of Prof. V. Hrabovetskyi.

From 2007 to 2010 – head of the Department of International Cooperation of PNU. From 2010 to 2014 – associate professor of the Department of International Relations and director of the Research Centre for Central-Eastern European Studies. In 2014–2018 – head of the Department of International Relations. Since November 23, 2023 – Dean of the Faculty of History, Political Science and International Relations.

Scholarship holder of the Government of the Republic of Poland Programme for Young Scientists (2011–2012), the Polish National Commission for UNESCO (2013), the Ivan Vyhovskyi Award (2016, 2017), the National Scholarship Programme of the Slovak Republic (2019), and the Kirkland Research Programme (2020–2021). Visiting professor at the universities of Lublin (2013), Kielce (2014), and Łódź (2018–2019).

Organizer of more than 55 international conferences and round tables, including 11 held abroad (Belgium, Poland, Turkey). Participant in the academic mobility programmes Erasmus Mundus IANUS II (2014) and ERASMUS+ (2021, 2023).

Member of the editorial boards of “Annales Universitatis Mariae Curie-Sklodowska” (Poland) and “Journal of the Human and Social Science Researches” (Turkey). Author of 90 scientific and scientific-methodological works, including one individual and eight collective monographs.

Expert of the Ukrainian Institute for Scientific and Technical Expertise and Information. Expert of the International Visegrad Fund (Poland). Member of the Ukrainian Association of Teachers and Researchers of European Integration.
