Representatives of Vasyl Stefanyk Carpathian National University — Yuliia Bohachyk-Didovych, assistant at the Department of International Relations of the Faculty of History, Political Science and International Relations; Yana Kotnevych, assistant at the Department of Foreign Languages and Translation Studies of the same faculty; and Nataliia Sabat, associate professor at the Department of Social Pedagogy and Social Work of the Faculty of Education — took part in the 36th Summer East European School of the University of Warsaw, held from 29 June to 13 July 2026.
The Studium Europy Wschodniej of the University of Warsaw is one of the most respected international academic projects, bringing together young scholars and researchers from Central and Eastern Europe. Its programme combined lectures by leading world scholars, interdisciplinary seminars, academic discussions and participation in the Warsaw East European Conference.
Participants attended lectures by Professor Magdalena Dembinska (Université de Montréal), Professor Norman Naimark (Stanford University), Professor Maren Röger (University of Leipzig), Professors Beata Halicka, Adam Bobryk and other renowned scholars. The main topics included international politics, European integration, security, historical memory, cultural heritage and contemporary social transformations.
Within the interdisciplinary seminars, the university’s representatives presented the results of their own research on the migration policy of the European Union, the literary legacy of Bruno Schulz and its cultural influence on Central-Eastern Europe, as well as topical issues in social-pedagogical research. The presentations provided an opportunity for professional discussion, exchange of experience and the establishment of new international academic contacts.
In addition to the academic programme, participants visited the University of Warsaw Museum, the University of Warsaw Library, the Museum of Modern Art, and the Museum of Warsaw, and also took study trips to Poznań and Kazimierz Dolny.
The visit to Poznań offered a deeper insight into the origins of Polish statehood, the processes of forming political identity, and the country’s historical heritage, with particular attention paid to the connection between historical processes and the current political and social transformations of Central-Eastern Europe.
During the study trip to Kazimierz Dolny, participants learned about the town’s architectural heritage, its multicultural history and its experience of preserving the historical environment. The town became an example of how cultural heritage fosters international cooperation, tourism and intercultural dialogue.
These study visits were an important practical addition to the Summer School’s academic programme, allowing participants to combine theoretical knowledge with direct exposure to Poland’s cultural and historical heritage.
The participation of representatives of Vasyl Stefanyk Carpathian National University in the 36th Summer East European School of the University of Warsaw contributed to their professional development, the expansion of international academic cooperation, the establishment of new scholarly contacts, and the exchange of experience with researchers from various countries. Such international programmes strengthen the university’s integration into the European educational and scientific space.
