European Union Information Centre in Ivano-Frankivsk
EU Information Centres are established by the European Commission to promote education and research on European integration. These institutions provide anyone interested with information about the history and principles behind the formation of the European Union, the shared achievements of EU member states, current issues, and the strategy for the further development of the European community. The first EU Information Centres were established in 1963. Today there are more than 600 such centres worldwide, mostly based at universities, national libraries, and research centres.
EU Information Centres receive information from official EU institutions, the European Commission, the European Council, Eurostat, the Committee on Social Policy, the Committee of the Regions, the European Investment Bank, and others. The centres offer a wide range of publications, periodicals, EU journals, statistical compendiums on European economics and law, and other materials related to EU activities. The materials of the Centres are available to everyone free of charge.
The main objectives of the EU Information Centres are:
- disseminating information about the European Union and its policies;
- promoting the development and expansion of relations between Ukraine and the EU;
- informing students about EU programmes and activities;
- assisting in the preparation of scientific and research work on European integration issues;
- encouraging student participation in events and debates on EU-related issues.
The EU Information Centres offer everyone free access to:
- comprehensive and structured information on EU activities;
- a collection of key official documents published and distributed by the EU;
- information about EU projects and programmes;
- information about potential partners from EU countries for developing international cooperation;
- new literature and periodicals;
- information received from the network of information centres in other countries and from partner organisations;
- analytics, statistics, and current reviews;
- bibliographic and information services
